Chlorine is used almost universally in the treatment of public water supply because of it’s toxic effect on harmful bacteria and other waterborne, disease-causing organisms. There is, however, growing evidence that chlorine in water may actually pose serious health risks when it is absorbed into the human body over a long period. There is also evidence that chlorine can destroy protein in our body and cause adverse effects on skin and hair.
You can use reverse osmosis, or filters, to remove chlorine from tap water, but this doesn't solve the problem of chlorine being absorbed through the skin when showering. Our shower head filters are packed with a high temperature catalytic media of minerals and calcite, which become more efficient as the water temperature increases. It either oxidises or reduces water borne impurities into harmless substances, such as chlorine to chloride. Other contaminants such as aluminium, arsenic, iron, mercury, lead and other heavy metals bond to the media.
