Around 60% of homes in the U.K. have hard water, and approximately 800 washing machines fail every day as a direct result of limescale. Hard water or limescale are calcium carbonate and magnesium minerals present in the water supply. The minerals dissolve and precipitate out, attaching themselves to pipes and plumbing. As well as pipes, appliances such as; washing machines, boilers, water heaters, dishwashers, all clog up with limescale resulting in expensive maintenance or replacement costs. It can also increase energy bills by up to 25%. Think H2O recommends using a CalPhos™ system to prevent limescale from forming. It has a dual purpose polyphosphate scale & corrosion inhibitor, and unlike water softeners, it is not necessary to provide a separate untreated drinking supply. This neat system, that can be fully installed by our engineers, is connected to your supply where your water enters the house. Water passes through calibrated nozzles in a venturi system, creating a suction of polyphosphates and water solution from the bowl. A proportional dose is then delivered through into the water system. Inside the unit is a bellows that constantly sucks in the saturated solution preventing the calcium in the water from crystallising and forming the hard encrustation on pipes. £26.00
